My relationship with coffee began when I moved from Texas to Yemen as a teenager. Visiting my grandparents in the village of Al-Qafr, I discovered that our family's land was covered in coffee farms. It was there that I tasted coffee in its purest form for the first time - so different from what I had known back in the States. That moment opened my eyes to what coffee could truly be - a whole new world of flavor and appreciation.
Over time, I learned more about coffee from farmers and industry experts like Hussain Ahmad, who deepened my understanding of its cultivation and global appeal. His praise for the unique flavor of my family’s Hawari coffee motivated me to explore its potential beyond Yemen. After working in tech and navigating the challenges of Yemen’s ongoing conflict, I found my way back to America and realized I wanted to share this coffee with a wider audience. Mocha Lux was born from that idea—a way to connect people with the distinct, authentic flavors of Yemeni coffee while supporting the farmers who make it possible.
This isn’t just about coffee. It’s about preserving something unique to Yemen and making it accessible to anyone who values quality and tradition.
